A sneak peek at some of the tools we use
Marine biosecurity is an important investment for our councils and keeping track of the outcomes of our work is important.
Bay of Plenty Regional Council has developed a new dashboard to help track some broad details of who it has talked to, and what they know - or don’t know - about marine pests.
By tracking results from a survey conducted by the council’s three marine biosecurity ambassadors (including Jack, who we introduced you to last issue), it helps the teams understand what sort of boats people are using, where they go boating, and identify gaps in knowledge.
It will also pick up trends and changes, and help the team decide where to focus surveillance, what to look for, and how best to work with neighbouring regions.
